One of the best attributes of concrete is how little maintenance and routine care it will need over its lifetime.  But no material, including concrete, is truly maintenance free.  Please read through the following information to help preserve the life and appearance of your concrete.

Driveways, Aprons, and Garage Floors
  • Keep these areas clear of ice and snow.
  • By keeping these areas clean, it helps to prevent damage due to de-icing chemicals which are placed on Minnesota roadways during the winter months.
  • Re-apply a high quality sealer every 2 to 3 years.

Chemicals
  • Avoid using de-icing chemicals for removal of snow and ice.
  • Protect your concrete from abuse of chemical agents such as pet urine, fertilizers, etc.  All of these items can cause spalling of concrete.

Colored and Stamped Concrete
  • Re-apply sealer when needed.
  • Treat your colored and stamped patio with care when shoveling.  Avoid using metal blades that may scratch the concrete surface.

Cracks
  • Cracking in concrete is inherent nature of a cement product.
  • Extreme weather conditions, moisture, ground movement/settling, heavy equipment, etc. may cause concrete to crack.
  • Concrete flatwork is not warranted against cracking.
  • Concrete slabs are not replaced due to cracking.
